The Oregon men’s basketball team continues its first series of non-conference games at home against Portland on Tuesday.

The Ducks (2-0) are coming off impressive wins heading into their 8 p.m. game against the Pilots (1-1) at Matthew Knight Arena.

Oregon opened the season with a 91-76 victory against an experienced UC Riverside squad and then defeated Montana 79-48 last Friday.

The Ducks have five players averaging double figures in scoring, led by the starting frontcourt of center Nate Bittle (16.5 points per game) and forward Kwame Evans Jr. (14.5). These two are also averaging 10.0 and 6.5 rebounds respectively.

Starting guard TJ Bamba (13.0) and small forward Brandon Angel (12.0) are also averaging more than 10 points per game. Reserve guard Jadrian Tracey scores right at 10.0.

As a team, Oregon is averaging 85.0 points, 43.5 rebounds, shooting 47.6% from the field and is starting to get noticed nationally. The Ducks received 37 votes in the USA Today Coaches poll released Monday. It was the fifth most votes for a team not in the top 25.

“We’re playing well,” Evans said after the win over Montana. “Offensively, we’re looking really good. We’re playing better than how we started last year. Defensively, we’re starting to come together. … The chemistry is starting to get good.”

The Pilots are coming off a 94-53 loss to UC Santa Barbara on Saturday. Portland was picked to finish eighth in the preseason coaches poll for the newly expanded West Coast Conference.
