Watch: Payton Pritchard makes another buzzer-beater to tie the franchise 3-point record for the Boston Celtics

Payton Pritchard is on fire.

The Boston Celtics guard added to his reputation for making long-range 3-pointers and he did it again Monday night. Pritchard made a 26-foot, 3-point step back jumper with 0.4 seconds remaining in the third quarter against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Pritchard’s shot extended the Celtics’ lead to 90–82 and gave them momentum entering the fourth quarter, and the Celtics rolled to a 119–108 victory.

“I just live for those moments,” Pritchard told reporters after the game. “The clock was running out and I think there were six seconds left, so just get to a spot and raise. And I blacked out in those moments and just let it fly. And of course it often works well for me.”

The 3-pointer was the highlight on a night where the former Oregon Ducks and West Linn High School star put on a show.

Pritchard exploded for 28 points and made 10 of 14 shots from the floor, including eight of his 12 three-pointers, tying the franchise record for three-pointers off the bench, set by Eddie House in 2009. He also added five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Pritchard has scored in double figures over the past three games after struggling in the regular season opener. He’s on pace for a career year and possible Sixth Man of the Year award. He is 21 of 48 from the field (48.8%) and 19 of 38 from beyond the arc (50%). He also has 12 rebounds, nine assists and three steals. He leads the league in points off the bench with 65.

The numbers are impressive, but it’s the buzzing, long-range three-pointers that have made him a star. Additionally, his work ethic, ability to persevere through tough times earlier in his career and overcome the odds have endeared him to fans.

“I feel like it’s because I look like a regular person, and I feel like I’m giving hope to everyone who is as big as me,” Pritchard told reporters after the game. “I’m not necessarily the most athletic, but hard work can go a long way, and I feel like I’m the best example of that. I never give up and I keep going. Whatever you set your mind to in life, you can achieve it. So I’m proud that I can give these people hope.”
