Watching impactful weather Thanksgiving week in Massachusetts – Boston News, Weather, Sports

We’re in for some waves of wet weather this week, which will impact Thanksgiving travel and Thanksgiving Day festivities.

First, it will be cold tonight into Monday. Early Monday morning, low temperatures will drop to the low 20s and low 30s under clear skies. At least the wind will finally die down.

We will recover on Monday. It will probably be the most beautiful day of this week. Winds will remain at bay, skies will be clear and highs neither too cold nor too warm in the upper 40s and low 50s. A great day to do your Thanksgiving shopping!

Things start going downhill on Tuesday. It won’t rain every second of the day, but it will rain for much of the day, especially before 3 p.m. Make sure you have a raincoat on hand! It might be a bit fluffy. Highs will be in the mid 40s well inland closer to central Massachusetts, while southeastern Massachusetts will be milder in the low to mid 50s.

We will dry out again on Wednesday, but the wind will remain so it will not be a 10/10 weather day. Highs will cool to the mid to upper 40s, and with the wind it will feel a lot colder. The sky will be partly sunny.

Thanksgiving Day is when we will have more impact. Although it is still very early and nothing has been definitively determined yet, the forecasting models are starting to show some new trends. The biggest weatherhead? The vast majority of us will see regular rain.

Southern Vermont and southwestern New Hampshire will have the best chance for some snow, while the higher elevations of the Worcester Hills will see some mixing/snow. In any case: no blockbuster storm that will lead to paralyzing consequences. Once we get closer to Thanksgiving, we’ll have a better idea of who might see some wintry weather and who will stick with the dreary rainy weather instead.

Thanksgiving will be colder with highs in the low to mid 40s (colder in higher elevations) with lows in the low 30s. Any precipitation looks to come to an end fairly quickly on Black Friday morning.

That means most of Black Friday will look dry and partly sunny, with highs in the low to mid 40s. The weekend that follows will be downright cold.

Saturday morning lows will drop into the 20s, while afternoon highs will be in the upper 30s and low 40s. The breeze will make it feel 5-10 degrees colder than it actually is. Saturday night through Sunday morning, reaching the low 20s, while afternoon highs struggle to get out of the 30s.
