Police have arrested a 12-year-old student for posting threats on social media against multiple schools in Washoe County.

On Instagram, the student posted photos of weapons and tagged multiple WCSD schools, threatening a school shooting or general violence.

Two separate posts were uploaded to social media.

On Saturday, September 7, immediately after WCSD police were notified of the reports, they launched an investigation in conjunction with the FBI.

The student was arrested and charged with two counts of making threats and communicating false information about terrorist acts, a criminal offense.

There are no ongoing threats to the schools mentioned in the social media posts, or to the future dates mentioned in the post.
