Weather warning days for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

There’s a busy weather week ahead in Green Country as weather warning days are now in effect for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tuesday – Strong winds and high fire danger

A weather warning day is in effect for Tuesday as strong winds create high fire danger throughout the Green Country.

Wind speeds of up to 40 km/h are expected for the rest of the afternoon and evening. A wind advisory applies to several provinces until 8 p.m. tonight.

This, combined with low humidity and very dormant vegetation, results in high fire danger across much of Oklahoma.

Adhere to local burning bans and avoid fire-related activities.

Tuesday – Strong winds

There will be strong winds on Tuesday, with gusts of up to almost 60 kilometers per hour.

A wind advisory is in effect again until Tuesday 8 p.m.

Fire danger will still be elevated throughout the day on Tuesday, but higher humidity levels will reduce the threat somewhat.

Wednesday – Heavy storms

Wednesday will bring the first chances of severe weather in Green Country in several months.

A slow-moving front will produce a large number of showers and storms across Oklahoma, some of which could be strong to severe, with the main threats being large hail and damaging winds, although an isolated tornado threat cannot be ruled out.

Most activities will take place in the late afternoon until the evening.
