Wendy Williams’ legal guardian shares heartbreaking health update

It’s heartbreaking news for fans hoping Wendy Williams will make a comeback to television, as a new health update claims the former talk show host is “permanently disabled.”

As reported by The American sunthe latest health update comes from court documents from lawyers for Williams’ guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, who is fighting with Lifetime over the documentary Where is Wendy Williams?

According to the newspaper, Sabrina’s legal team refers to Williams as “an acclaimed entertainer who, tragically, has been struck by early-onset dementia and has, as a result, been left cognitively impaired and permanently disabled.”

The filing adds: “In January 2022, after becoming aware of a pattern of troubling events involving (Williams’) well-being and finances, Wells Fargo took the highly unusual step of initiating custody proceedings on its own initiative in the New York Supreme Court. , New York County (the “Guardianship Proceeding”), to request the appointment by the court of an independent guardian for (Wendy’s) financial affairs.”

Morrissey’s legal team has asked the court to redact parts of the case about Williams’ “health, family relationships and finances” to protect her privacy.

“We respectfully request that the court grant plaintiff’s request for limited redactions to protect nonpublic information from the guardianship proceedings placed under seal by the court overseeing those proceedings,” the papers say.

The latest lawsuit comes after Williams’ guardian tried to block Lifetime from releasing his documentary earlier this year. Morrissey’s team filed a restraining order against the TV station on February 20, just days before the doctor was released. However, the request was denied because a judge ruled that blocking the doc would be an “impermissible prior restriction of speech in violation of the institution’s First Amendment.”

Morrissey filed an amended complaint against A&E Television Networks, Entertainment One Reality Productions, Lifetime Entertainment Services, Creature Films and director Mark Ford on September 16, 2024. The case is now being heard in federal court. The defendants have filed countersuits against Morrisey.

Earlier this year, Williams’ health care team released a statement revealing her diagnosis of primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.

“Aphasia, a condition that affects language and communication skills, and frontotemporal dementia, a progressive disorder that affects behavior and cognitive functions, have already created significant obstacles in Wendy’s life,” the statement said.

Williams was last seen in public on August 19, when she stopped by the holistic store Bolingo Balance in Newark, New Jersey, with her son, Kevin Hunt Jr. It was the first time Williams had been seen in public since March 2023.
