West Virginia-Kansas Weather Updates

For the second time in the first month of the 2024 American football season, West Virginia is facing weather delays.

The Mountaineers’ game against Kansas was halted with 10:43 remaining in the fourth quarter on Saturday due to lightning and inclement weather near Morgantown, West Virginia.

Milan Puskar Stadium in West Virginia was effectively evacuated. Attendees were told on the stadium’s big screen to take cover on the concourse, in the restrooms, in the nearby indoor training facility or in their vehicles.

Coach Neal Brown’s team is accustomed to such stoppages. West Virginia’s season-opening 34-12 loss to Penn State was delayed more than two hours by nearby lightning.

The host Mountaineers trail Kansas 21-17 in a matchup of Big 12 teams with a 1-2 record, with both teams desperately needing a win to turn their seasons around.
