What does the trade bring for Diontae Johnson to the Baltimore Ravens | Football 301

Nate Tice and Matt Harmon react to Tuesday’s trade between the Carolina Panthers and Baltimore Ravens, which sent the WR back to the AFC North after just half a season in Charlotte. The Baltimore Ravens are clearly trying to add to a WR corps that fell just one game short of the Super Bowl last season, so what does Johnson add to an offense that already features Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Derrick Henry and Mark Andrews?

Yeah, look, I mean, Dante just didn’t feel like he was going to play the year in Carolina because they’re not going anywhere.

Although they will be in the same spot again next year when they have another new young quarterback.

Who is that guy throwing to?

While they have some interesting young players, Jalen Coker, that guy, can play that guy.

He can.

I know.

Me, I watched it this morning.

Yeah, I watched him during the pre-draft process and, you know, he was kind of a day three guy.

Interesting to me.

But yeah, no, he’s legit.

He could be our next favorite power slot.

Nate Ty.

Let’s pay attention to that.

I agree with the good, oh friend.

Me, I’m ready to seduce you with some Jalen Coker major closing propaganda.

But they’ll figure that out in Carolina.

It just didn’t make sense.

They probably weren’t going to have him resign, no matter what he did, they probably didn’t want to resign there anyway. Baltimore, they need more receiving options, because as much as I appreciate Rashad Bateman, I have to laugh at how he points to the sun after that fall, like, you know, the sun, the sun has been around here for quite some time in the human span.

The sun has been around longer than professional football.

But, um, yeah, I thought he still is, he still is.

I think he’s having a nice season.

Zay Flowers isn’t the, he’s a good passer, but he’s kind of a crazy route runner at times.

Sometimes on this lower field outside.

You don’t say it was the quadruple assignment.

It might have been more than that five-way move, that he set up Flowers on the running routes as if it were a senior bowl practice in a one-on-one drill.

And so of course it’s like man: Lamar knocked him over on a passage.

Wow, he didn’t know where he would be.

He’s running routes, he’s running routes in italics and, and everyone else is just block letters, all in capital letters.

He runs, he runs around in cursive and Deonte is not a perfect player either.

Obviously you want to talk about drop issues like he does, he’s going to have drop issues every now and then, but he’s a reliable route runner who can stand out from the outside press coverage.

So definitely something they didn’t have in this room right now.

So, um yeah, I mean, look at how Baltimore is loading like it should.

They are a very good football team, even though they lost this game against Cleveland.

This is the kind of move they should make.

Yes, absolutely.

This is what makes perfect sense for a team to give to the Chiefs, like Deandre Hopkins.

Like that just makes sense to me.

A player that needs the looks they get, they get so much single high because everyone is afraid of Derek Henry in the run game.

So, okay, let’s get some man-beaters, let’s get some guys who can win one-on-one.

And when you have all those guys, you already have your dirty workman in agar so you can let the other guys do the flashy fun stuff.

Jay Johnson can do that and if he doesn’t have to be the guy, he can just be a secondary option.

Yes.

Yeah, it’s a bit like they have a whole bunch of secondary options, but it works for me because they can all beat humans.

They don’t get, you know, too many of them, oh we need this zone beater.

They have quite a feeling there.

But yeah, that’s where the tight ends come in.

That’s probably where Isaiah comes in Mark Andrews.

So yeah, I’m just adding to their Baltimore gun pile.

Good team.
