‘Wheel of Fortune’ Player Reveals What Ryan Seacrest Is Really Like and More Secrets Off-Camera

How does it work? Wheel of Fortune host Ryan Seacrest acts like the cameras are not roll? Many viewers may be curious now that he has earned a full two months as Pat Sajak’s replacement alongside Vanna White. For the first time, fans got insight from a contestant who had just competed and shared behind the scenes what Seacrest is really like.

A player who recently appeared went to the WoF The Reddit forum after their episode aired to share a long post about their experiences and how Seacrest is doing during commercial breaks.

“Ryan was SO friendly during the commercial breaks,” they wrote in part. “He had individual conversations with each of us. He would talk to the audience. He was just absolutely the best. At one point, mid-sentence, I just stopped and said, “I can’t believe I’m literally talking to you right now.”

The player (who wished to remain anonymous) went on to say that Seacrest ended his conversation with them despite being interrupted by a producer.

“Another thing that stood out to me was when I was talking to him and a producer interrupted to say something to him. I thought that was the end of the conversation, and then he turned to me and said, “Sorry, keep going!” It was so small, but so nice and polite. He really cared about the conversations he was having! All three of us told him what a great job he is doing as a host, and he was visibly moved.”

Fans loved the takeaway that Seacrest puts on the charm on and off camera and goes out of his way to get to know each player.

“Congratulations on such a wonderful experience! It’s great to hear all these details, one fan wrote.

“Thank you for sharing your experience!” wrote another.

In their post, the player also explained exactly how a WoF The tape day starts with a practice session, rehearsal and the random distribution of the group of players.

First, everyone is taken to a “large empty warehouse-like area” on the Sony studio lot, where that day’s group of participants “sat at tables.” They continued, “We immediately met with a lawyer. He was also quite funny. They discussed what to expect that day.” A producer discussed what Seacrest would ask each participant in his intro.

The players were then introduced to the set. “Now we practiced our intros and spinning the wheel. One of the producers acted as Ryan.” They continued: “Three people went up at the same time, and we basically played a mini-game. Spin the wheel, shout out random letters to practice pronouncing, and our intros.

Then: ‘We went back to the warehouse, where I had my makeup touched up. During that time, they started announcing the show’s lineup. They said three names, then pulled a ball out of a bowl and whatever number was on it was the show you were going to be at. Their game was the first to end.

And just before the match, the players were brought back to the set. “We rehearsed in our groups and in the order of our shows. It was similar to practicing spinning the wheel, but this time we also had practice puzzles. There are also platforms behind the handlebars, and these could be raised and lowered for each participant, so everyone was at a comfortable height in front of the handlebars.”

Even though they weren’t competing, everyone was in the audience, then came their episode, which involved some “devastating” bankruptcies. “It took about an hour to film the episode.” There was an accident with “the fire alarm and some technical problems.” They closed. The producers were great. They really made us feel like we belonged there. Everyone on set had such a positive attitude.”
