NEW DELHI: When Kamran Ghulam made headlines on Tuesday by scoring a century on debut against England in the second Test in Multan, he was not only praised for his hundred but also for achieving the feat after hitting a tough as Babar had replaced Azam in the team.
Ghulam has amassed countless runs in all three formats of the game since making his first-class debut in 2013. His highest performance came in 2020-21 when he scored 1,249 runs in 11 domestic matches.
This broke a record of 36 years.
Ghulam was not given a chance despite being included in Pakistan’s provisional squad for a home match against South Africa in 2021.
Ghulam was part of the Pakistan team for the one-day international against New Zealand in Karachi last year, but was only allowed to play as he was Haris Sohail’s replacement after he suffered a concussion.
After Pakistan’s defeat in the first Test, Ghulam finally made his Test debut by taking the place of the struggling Babar Azam.
The 29-year-old debutant made the most of this opportunity and scored a stunning 118 on the opening day of the second Test.
But now a two-year-old video featuring the Pakistani star pacer is going viral Haris Rauf had punched Ghulam in a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match.
The incident took place during a match between Lahore Qalandars And Peshawar Zalmi.
Rauf was seen batting and expressing his anger at his teammate Ghulam after the latter failed to hold on to a catch during the final PSL 2022 league match between Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi.
Ghulam had dismissed Rauf’s Hazratullah Zazai of Peshawar Zalmi, but on the penultimate delivery of the same, Fawad Ahmed took a good catch to dismiss Mohammad Haris. As the Lahore Qalandars players gathered to celebrate the wicket, Rauf Ghulam slapped in frustration.
To Ghulam’s credit, he took it sportingly even as Shaheen Shah tried to calm Afridi Rauf down.

Rauf was reprimanded by the match referee for his shocking behavior on the pitch.
