Who is the greatest country artist of all time?

How about this: Who would be on your list of the 100 Greatest Country Music Artists of All Time? That can be quite tricky to put together, right? Well, the folks at Billboard.com just took a stab at it.

We won’t give the entire list here, but Brothers Osborne – Maryland residents and brothers TJ and John Osborne – came in at 100th place.

Luke Bryan came in 96th overall and Morgan Wallen came in 79th. Toby Keith, who died in February after a long battle with cancer, was 65th and Hank Williams Jr. finished in 57th place. Luke Combs was ranked 54th, Tim McGraw was 52nd and Charlie Daniels was 51st.

Taylor Swift was also on the list, coming in at 41st place, and Chris Stapleton came in at 29th.

As far as the top 10 goes, there are obviously some big names, but there are also some surprises.

For example, Garth Brooks came in seventh.

So, who did Billboard rank as the best country artist of all time?

Dolly Parton took the crown.

The site wrote that “there has never been anyone like her, and it’s impossible to believe there ever will be again.”

Billboard called Parton “one of the best songwriters in country or any other genre” while also praising her singing skills. It was pointed out that she has scored “25 No. 1s on Billboard’s Country Songs chart, in addition to 49 top 10s on Country Albums, and nine No. 1s, most recently in 2023 with “Rockstar.”
