Who could be Oregon’s ‘College GameDay’ pick for the Ohio State game?

ESPN’s “College GameDay” returns to Eugene, Oregon for one of the biggest regular-season conference matchups this college football season: No. 2 Ohio State at No. 3 Oregon.

Host Rece Davis will join former Alabama football coach Nick Saban, Pat McAfee, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit live from Memorial Quad to preview the meeting of the top three Big Ten teams, while two programs from nationally championship level.

The show kicks off Saturday at 6 a.m. PT time — the second week in a row, the three-hour pregame show begins before the sun rises. The show will take place on Oregon’s campus for the 12th time in the show’s history, with the Ducks sitting at 18-12 all-time when appearing on “College GameDay.”

One of the biggest questions for Saturday’s edition of “College GameDay” concerns one of the show’s most sacred traditions: the celebrity guest selector. The last time “GameDay” traveled to Eugene, former Oregon women’s basketball legend Sabrina Ionescu was the celebrity guest voter.

So who will be this week’s guest voter on Saturday? Here’s an overview of some possible guests:

Week 7 ‘College GameDay’ possible guest picks

In recent weeks, “GameDay” has announced its celebrity guest selector on the Thursday before the show. In the meantime, here’s a list of some possible options for this week’s “College GameDay” guest selector:

  • Sabrina Ionescu: She certainly seems like the best choice, as the former Oregon women’s basketball star was the guest selector the last time “GameDay” was in Oregon in 2022. However, Ionescu and the New York Liberty are still competing in the WNBA playoffs, leaving them appears unlikely.
  • Justin Herbert: Like Ionescu, the former Oregon football quarterback will play in Week 6 of the NFL season on Sunday. In fact, he’ll be taking on former Ducks quarterback Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver.
  • Bo Nix: (See above).
  • Marcus Mariota: With Chip Kelly returning to Oregon for the first time as Ohio State’s offensive coordinator, could his former quarterback do the same? The answer is (probably) no, as the Washington Commanders’ backup quarterback plays a game against the Ravens on Sunday in Baltimore.
  • Wyndham Clark: The former Oregon golfer helps Team USA win its 10th consecutive Presidents Cup Trophy.
  • LeGarette Blount: The three-time Super Bowl running back spent two seasons at Oregon from 2008 to 2009. In those two years, Blount ran for a total of 1,084 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns.
  • Joey Harrington: The former Oregon quarterback is still beloved in Eugene, 23 years after his last game for the Ducks.
  • Cole Hocker: If ESPN and “GameDay” want to capitalize on the recent 2024 Olympics in Paris, Hocker would be the choice. The former Oregon track and field alum had one of the best results of the Paris Olympics when he came from behind to win the gold in the 1,500-meter race for Team USA.
  • Ty Burrell: Although the “Modern Family” actor is a graduate of Southern Oregon University, he is from the Beaver State. Last year he appeared as a guest on “College GameDay” when Oregon faced Utah in Salt Lake City. He recently voiced an Oregon Big Ten commercial for the Ducks’ arrival in the conference.
  • Phil Knight: You don’t have to explain the connection between Knight and Oregon. The Nike co-founder and Oregon alum would be a safe choice for “GameDay.”
  • Ben Affleck: When you consider Phil Knight, you might as well think of the actor who played him in “Air” – the 2023 film about how Nike brought in Michael Jordan and launched its basketball division, including the Air Jordan brand – along with Matt Damon.
  • Sam Elliott: The legendary American actor is an Oregon alum.
  • Kaitlin Olson: The “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” actress received her bachelor’s degree in theater arts from Oregon’s College of Arts and Sciences in 1997. She also stars in ABC’s new TV show “High Potential.” Disney is the parent company of ESPN and ABC.
