Election Day 2024 has arrived. And eyes are on eight crucial “battleground states” that could determine the results: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

These states, which are known for using both Blue and Red, earning them the name swing states, were crucial in determining the 2016 and 2020 election results. Experts expect this to be no different in 2024.

Both Republican candidate President Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris have campaigned extensively in these battleground states in hopes of securing the required 270 electoral votes for victory.

This evening, Fortune will report on updates to decisions in these key states and provide live coverage after the polls close. Here’s a look at the states to watch, when their polls close, and our latest updates on vote counts:

Arizona, polls close at 9:00 PM ET

Electoral votes: 11

Why it’s important: Arizona was a surprise victory for Biden in 2020, marking only the second time in nearly 70 years that a Democratic candidate has won the state.

Current poll: Trump currently leads Harris in Arizona by just over 2 points, according to FiveThirtyEight polling

Timing of results: Arizona will wait until all precincts have reported or an hour after polls close before releasing results. In 2020, results first appeared around 10:02 PM ET.

LAST UPDATE: This section is updated regularly with results after polls close.

Georgia, polls close at 7:00 PM ET

Electoral votes: 16

Why it mattersGeorgia, a key state in both 2016 and 2020, chose Biden in 2020 by a narrow margin. The state has since been embroiled in legal battles, with Trump facing continued legal challenges over his attempts to overturn the previous results.

Current poll: According to FiveThirtyEight polling, Trump and Harris are neck-and-neck in Georgia, with a 1.5-point lead.

Timing of results: The first results could appear shortly after polls close, as seen in 2020 when the first data was reported at 7:20 PM ET.

LAST UPDATEResults are starting to come in as polls close in Georgia, and while it will be some time before the full results are counted, the AP’s initial reporting has Trump in the lead. Michigan, polls close at 9:00 PM ET*

Electoral votes: 15

Why it mattersMichigan, a traditional Democratic stronghold, switched to Trump in 2016 but returned to the Democratic column in 2020. This “blue wall” state remains critical to any winning strategy. GOP strategist Frank Luntz says he’s looking directly at the city of Dearborn, Michigan, as a sign of whether Trump will win. He said an “incredibly high turnout” would be “good news for Harris,” indicating she will win the state. Otherwise, Trump will likely take Michigan.

Current poll: According to polling by FiveThirtyEight, Harris leads Trump in the state by barely one point.

Timing of results: Most polls close at 9:00 PM ET, although some precincts report an hour earlier. In 2020, the AP called Michigan for Biden the next day at 5:58 PM ET.

Current poll: According to FiveThirtyEight polling, Trump leads Harris statewide, but specifically in the “blue dot” area, Harris leads by 7 points.
