The 58th annual Country Music Association Awards took over Nashville on Wednesday night.

The awards show, which recognizes outstanding achievements in country music, featured rising stars and veteran performers competing for the evening’s top honors, including the New Artist of the Year award and the coveted title of Entertainer of the Year .

The top nominees at the 2024 CMA Awards included Morgan Wallen, Cody Johnson, Post Malone, Lainey Wilson and Chris Stapleton.

Who won Entertainer of the Year at the 2024 CMA Awards?

Morgan Wallen, a country-pop singer and songwriter from Sneedville, Tennessee, won the Entertainer of the Year award at the 2024 CMAs, beating out Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Chris Stapleton and Lainey Wilson.

Actor Jeff Bridges announced Wallen as the winner on Wednesday evening. It was Wallen’s first win as Entertainer of the Year and his second CMA Award overall, but he was not present to accept it, according to the Nashville Tennessean.

Why wasn’t Morgan Wallen at CMA?

Wallen earned seven nominations at the 2024 CMA Awards this year, the most of any artist. However, the singer was not present at the award show on Wednesday evening. The reason behind his absence remains unknown.

Accepting the award in his stead, Bridges said, “Morgan was unable to attend tonight, so I’m going to accept this award on his behalf. According to US Weekly, Wilson, Peyton Manning and Luke Bryan, the show’s cohosts, also joined Bridges on stage to congratulate Wallen on his win.
