Whoopi Goldberg Says She Still ‘Don’t Want to Say His Name’ While Talking Elections on ‘The View’

“The View” host Whoopi Goldberg said Wednesday, while discussing Election Day results, that she still refuses to say “his name.”

The hosts of “The View” were adamant in their support of Vice President Kamala Harris during her election campaign. Despite this, Goldberg said the show never explicitly instructed Americans who to vote for.

“We told people, ‘vote,’” she said. “We didn’t tell them who to vote for. We just said: go vote.”

She continued, acknowledging the brevity of Harris’ election campaign and how much excitement she was able to generate among Democrats. This, she said, did not translate in the polls.

People didn’t even come out, I don’t know why, and it doesn’t even matter,” Goldberg said. “He’s the president now, I’m still not going to say his name. That’s not going to change.”

The comments drew applause from the studio audience.

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin added that there are some “good, decent people” who didn’t vote for Harris, giving her a reason to be hopeful about the country’s future.

“It’s hard for some of us to hear that rhetoric after 50 years, after 70 years,” Goldberg said. “When I hear that, I feel okay if I’m angry at someone who talks down to someone else, that’s fine with me.”

“What I don’t agree with is trying to further destroy the country,” she added.

Goldberg suggested Monday that former Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., could have served as attorney general if Harris won the election. Cheney shook her head when the co-host made the suggestion.

“I’d feel a lot better if you were in charge of the FBI, the CIA, NBC, LMNOP, everyone,” Goldberg said. “I put it out in the universe because that’s how we do things.”
