New York is as much an idea and experiment as anything else. It is one of the few truly diverse international cities in the world and has opened its doors to newcomers, strivers, workers, dreamers and innovators for generations.

It is, of course, deeply imperfect, as ambitions often are. Yet it remains irresistible to anyone hoping for some of that magic to come their way, including Donald Trump.
