WWE Icon Sid ‘Vicious’ Eudy Dies at 63

Sid Eudy, a six-time wrestling champion and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) icon, died Monday at the age of 63 after a long battle with cancer, his family announced.

Eudy — known to fans as Sid Justice, Sid Vicious and Sycho Sid — rose to fame in the 1990s as one of the industry’s “most impressive and fearsome competitors of his generation,” according to WWE.

His son, Gunnar Eudy, remembered him as “a man of strength, kindness and love” who will be “dearly missed.”

Gunnar thanked people for their support on Facebook and said the family “appreciates your thoughts and prayers as we grieve this loss.” He added that details of a memorial service would be announced soon.

The 6-foot-1 man was born on December 16, 1960 in the American state of Arkansas and entered the world of wrestling when he joined the World Championship Wrestling (WCW) circuit in 1989, where he competed against greats such as The Four Horsemen and The Steiner Brothers.

In a statement, WWE said: “Sid’s reputation as one of the strongest and most exciting Superstars has cemented his legacy in the WWE, and his influence continues to be seen in wrestling rings around the world.

“WWE extends its condolences to Eudy’s family, friends and fans.”

Eudy made his WWE debut as Sid Justice, according to the organization, serving as a special guest referee at the 1991 SummerSlam, which also featured WWE legend Hulk Hogan.

During his wrestling career, the two-time WWE (then WWF) Champion headlined WrestleMania twice and won the WCW heavyweight championship twice.

According to WWE, the wrestler would still be highly regarded had he not suffered “a catastrophic leg injury” in 2001.

After his death, condolences poured in from fans and other professionals.

Two-time WWE Hall of Famer Booker T Huffman said Eudy’s impact on wrestling was “undeniable,” adding that he “paved the way for so many of us.”

“Without Sid Vicious, I don’t think my brother and I would have made it to WCW… My deepest condolences to his family during this difficult time,” he wrote on X.

Eudy is survived by his wife Sabrina Paige and his two children.
