A group of youths in Sabon Birni Gobir Local Government Area of ​​Sokoto State staged a protest following the kidnapping and killing of the Sarkin Gobir (traditional ruler) of Gatawa District, Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa, by his abductors on Wednesday.

It was gathered that the youths went out in large numbers, according to a video circulating on social media. In the video, they were seen marching towards the residence of the Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Idris Muhammad Gobir, burning tyres and other items along the way.

The violent demonstration reflects the anger of the youth, who are demanding justice for the slain traditional leader and immediate action by the authorities to tackle the rising wave of violent crimes.

A voice in the video said: “Some youths from Sabon Birni Gobir Local Government Area of ​​Sokoto State have taken to the streets to protest the kidnapping and gruesome murder of Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa, the Sarkin Gobir of Gatawa District of Sokoto State.

“The youths are on their way in large numbers to the house of the deputy governor of the state, where they are setting fire to tyres and other valuables.” Bawa was abducted, tortured and brutally murdered by terrorists on August 21.
