YOUTUBER Paul Harrell has died at the age of 58 from pancreatic cancer, he confirmed in his own video.

The Oregon-based content creator with over 1.13 million subscribers made the following announcement: news in a YouTube video titled “I’m Dead”.

“If you look at me, I’m dead,” he told his fans in the video recorded on December 20, 2023.

In the video, the firearms expert addresses subscribers while sitting on a log in the woods, the same place he announced he had been diagnosed with stage 2 pancreatic cancer.

He then went on to detail his health issues, despite previously assuring fans that his cancer was “caught early” and that he would “have to stay for a while longer”.

“We did find out early, but not as early as I thought,” he admitted.

“It spread faster than I thought.

“My time is running out.”

Harrell revealed that fans knew he was using crutches after breaking his hip, but that this was because the cancer had spread to his bones, causing them to “crumble” and break his hip.

The final point Harrell made was that he offered his “sincere apologies” to the community he had built on YouTube. He admitted that he felt guilty about his sudden passing.

“I had hoped that I would continue in this format for the next “10 or even 15 years,” he said.

“When I was diagnosed, I was hoping we would be here for at least another two or three years, but it turned out to be only a few months.

“I apologize for that. It makes me feel like I’ve let everyone down.”

PAYING A TRIBUTE

Although Harrell’s role at the Paul Harrell Channel has ended, he said there were plans for his brother and the rest of the production team to take over.

“I had the great privilege of having Paul in my life and having him as a friend. He’s very generous and kind and he told the best campfire stories,” Brad Nelson, Paul’s editor and manager, said at the end of the clip.

His brother told viewers that once he and the team have had time to grieve and process Harrell’s death, they will continue posting on the channel and “honor his memory.”

His brother’s only request was that those who posted about the gun activist’s death “keep their personal information politics or remove religious beliefs.”

“He will remain an inspiration to us all,” he concluded with tears in his eyes.

Harrell shared his firearms knowledge on his channel, including gun safety, ammo, reviews, and accuracy shooting.

The channel promises to provide viewers with “real civilian firearms information,” as fans call Harrell the “best firearms educator.”

Fans responded en masse to the video and on social media to pay tribute to the firearms expert.

“There is now a big hole in the universe that cannot be filled,” one person wrote.

“He was what you call a professional, and he will be greatly missed.”

“Paul Harrell is the only man humble enough to apologize for his death. The world will not be the same without him,” wrote another.

“Even beyond the grave the humour is dark but fitting. We will miss you Paul,” said a third.
