Zion Williamson suffers another injury that will keep him out indefinitely

Just as things were looking up for Zion Williamson, he was struck by the injury bug again.

The 2019 No. 1 overall pick had dropped 29 points in three of his last four games, but it will be quite a while before we see him on the floor again.

The New Orleans Pelicans announced Saturday that he has been diagnosed with a hamstring injury in his left leg and will be out indefinitely.

Williamson played in a career-high 70 games last season, but that came after playing 29 games in the 2022-23 season and also missing all of previous season. He had also missed four of the Pelicans’ 10 games this season.

Despite the missed time early on, the Pelicans signed him to an extension that guaranteed him $193 million in 2021.

Things seemed to reach a head last year when it was reported that Williamson is “not listening” to the team when it comes to his diet and fitness. There were times when it was clear he couldn’t keep up with the rest of the players on the field.

“It’s hard, man. I’m 20, 22 and I’ve got all the money in the world. Well, it feels like all the money in the world. It’s hard,” Williamson said in the summer of 2023 when asked about eat healthy and stay in top physical condition.

“I’m at that point now. Through certain things I bring back the wisdom around me. I don’t want to say older, because they get defensive, but I put people around me with wisdom. I put myself on the line for certain things. And continue from there.

He also had some out-of-court drama with former adult film actress Moriah Mills, who said she “really loved him.” Mills also claimed the two had a sex tape and threatened to sue Williamson for the “damage you have done to my life.”

At one point, Williamson posted cryptic lyrics from a Notorious BIG song, causing fans to worry for his well-being.
