    Notre Dame vs. Texas A&M: College Football Week 1 Matchups, Scores, Updates

    It’s the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, which means the college football chaos is really starting to kick off.

    No. 1 Georgia started off with an absolute show of force, beating No. 14 Clemson 34-3 in their season opener. Heisman favorite Carson Beck was on point during the marquee showdown, throwing for 278 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

    No. 19 Miami defeated in-state rival Florida in the afternoon period, with new QB Cam Ward throwing for 385 yards and three touchdowns in his debut.

    Elsewhere, No. 4 Texas and No. 8 Penn State both fared well. Arch Manning scored the first touchdowns of his career in cleanup duty as the Longhorns beat Colorado State, and PSU QB Drew Allar looked very comfortable in the Nittany Lions’ new-look offense in a win over West Virginia.

    Notre Dame doesn’t shy away from tough openers, and this one is no exception. Saturday night marks QB Riley Leonard’s first game in a Notre Dame uniform after transferring from Duke, but he’ll play behind a revamped offensive line that lost three starters from 2023. First-year Texas A&M coach Mike Elko brings a defense with plenty of new faces but still plenty of talent. And QB Connor Weigman returns as the Aggies’ starting quarterback with the goal of staying healthy all season.

      It’s over in Ann Arbor. Fresno State had a great drive and was inside the Michigan 10 before Mikey Keene jumped a route and returned the ball 86 yards for a touchdown to seal it.

      Tez Johnson scores a game-winning touchdown to give the Ducks a 24-14 lead with 5:36 to go.

      The Aggies FINALLY get a full drive together and Le’Veon Moss knocks it in from the 1-yard line after a PI call in the endzone puts them in position. We’re all stuck with 11:49 to play in College Station.

      The Wolverines have their safety net as Davis finds Warren Colston Loveland for an 18-yard touchdown.

      Fresno’s first TD of the game makes it a possession game. Michigan leads 16-10 early in the 4th.

      Oregon adds some breathing room with a short field goal. Early in the 4th.

      The first touchdown of the game was scored 6:50 into the third quarter.

    • Michigan’s player of the game today? Kicker Dominic Zvada.

      He made field goals from 55, 53 and 45 yards.

      Michigan leads Fresno State 16-3 early in the fourth inning.

    • Back in action at College Station, Notre Dame goes for it on 4th down at their own 33 yard line (!) and converts. But a few plays later the Irish FAIL to convert on another 4th down try at midfield.

      After the play passes review, Texas A&M takes it over at 50. Right decision?

    • Oregon on the lookout for a surprise

      And just like that the lead is halved! Touchdown Vandals!

    • Oregon still leads Idaho 14-0, but the offense struggles to move the ball against an FCS team.

    • Michigan scores a field goal to increase its lead over Fresno State to 13-3. The Wolverines and QB Davis Warren, who started today, struggle offensively, however. They prefer Alex Orji.

      Oddly enough, Orji caught Michigan’s only TD pass on his only attempt of the day. He was otherwise used primarily as a RB.

    • UNLV is at odds with Houston, which started as a slight favorite.

      UNLV leads 24-0 at the end of the 3rd period.

    • Draw at the half

      It has paid off for Notre Dame. The defenses have held up as neither team has found the end zone so far.

      Notre Dame’s Xavier Watts intercepts the ball against Texas A&M QB Conner Weigman, his second interception of the day.
