After Midnight… A Quick Check of Our Weather Situation: The Alabama Weather Blog

As of 12:34 p.m., the radar is looking better than what we saw at 10 p.m., as rain activity has decreased in intensity. However, areas that have already received significant rain today are still seeing rain at this time. There is only one active Flash Flood Warning, and that is for parts of Bibb, Chilton, Perry, and Dallas Counties.

That said, we are still expecting a lot of rain on Saturday, perhaps more on the eastern side of the state. A Flood Alert remains in effect for all counties in North Alabama and most counties in Central Alabama through Saturday afternoon.

The latest QPF map from the NWS WPC shows that locations in the northwest to southeast, primarily along I-22 and US-280, could see 2-4 inches of rain, while the rest of the state could see 1 inch or less. The good news is that no severe storms are expected on your Saturday, as the potential for flooding will be the main focus. We will have lost the helicity necessary for severe storms to form, although there will be enough surface-based instability for thunderstorms and fuel to keep them alive for a while.
