Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell punches guitarist Dave Navarro on stage, abruptly ending Boston concert

Beantown band fights!

Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell punched guitarist Dave Navarro in an onstage rage while several crew members dragged him offstage, abruptly ending the reunited band’s concert in Boston on Friday night.

Farrell was performing “Ocean Size” when he began to growl angrily, telling the audience at the Leader Bank Pavillion to “f–k you” before shouting into the microphone.

Farrell, clearly looking agitated, turned to Navarro on his right, who again yelled and slammed his shoulder into the unsuspecting guitarist, according to a video of the awkward altercation posted to social media.

The two rockers faced each other, with Farrell moving closer to Navarro’s face, who calmly held him back with his right arm.

Farrell, in turn, throws elbows at the guitarist as several crew and band members, including bassist Eric Avery, run up to the “Been Caught Stealing” singer and hold him down, telling him to “stop.”

The lights on stage dimmed, but a few blows were exchanged as the hot-headed singer was led out of sight of the audience.

The remaining three band members — Navarro, Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins — went to the front of the stage where they waved goodbye to the crowd.

The band members raised their hands above their heads, tapped their chests and made peace gestures as the audience gave them a standing ovation.

Photographer Brian MacKenzie, who was assigned to capture the show at the venue, posted on X that the audience felt the confrontation was mainly between the band members.

“Perry had a large bottle of wine with him all night, Navarro and Avery kept chatting throughout the show and seemed angrier than usual,” he claimed.

“I was there,” said X user @deanasc1. “The audience was stunned. Half pissed that the show ended early and half excited that we might have seen the last Janes A show ever.”

The band, Navarro and Perry, had not commented on the incident as of Saturday morning.

The band, who are in the middle of a North American tour, have had issues with their singer during recent shows.

During his September 10 performance on the roof of Pier 17 in New York, Farrell told the audience that his singing wasn’t in great shape, Variety reported.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I have to be honest with you. There’s something wrong with my voice. I can’t get the notes out of it anymore,” the singer is said to have said.

The next day, Avery posted a message on Instagram to get her fans excited for their second performance in Manhattan.

“I look forward to having another chance tonight at this spectacular rooftop location. I am optimistic that we will be better,” he said.

Jane’s Addiction is scheduled to open September 15 at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

The Grammy-nominated band’s 2024 tour marked the reunion of the four original members, after Avery returned in 2022 and Navarro, who missed the 2022 and 2023 tours due to a prolonged battle with COVID.

Farrell admitted he missed his guitarist in Navarro’s absence.

“I wish I had my sweet guitar player with me,” Farrell told The Post in September 2022. “(But) I live to bring entertainment and art to the world. And whatever I can do to entertain you, to amaze you, that’s what I live for.”

To fill Navarro’s spot, the band brought in Queen of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen and Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.

“How do you find a guitarist who can fill Dave Navarro’s shoes? We had to spread the word to people we knew, people we liked, and Troy fit the bill the best out of all the people we considered,” Farrell said.
