Kamala Harris goes on to tell Fox and Donald Trump that January 6 was ‘Day of Love’

Let’s get the easy stuff out of the way. The Vice President has knocked Bret Baier away from Ohtani and I don’t think he’s playable anymore. Remember, Tim Walz delivered his KO punch late in his debate, when J. Divan Vance refused to say whether he thought the former president* lost the 2020 election. (On Wednesday, by the way, he answered “No.”) The vice president did the same to Baier when he tried — via a clipped piece of videotape — to minimize the “enemy within” poison that the Republican ticket brings. been scooping out last month. The vice president called him out for that tape sleight of hand and then sent him flying at a significant launch angle.

“Bret, I’m sorry, and with all due respect, that excerpt was not what he said about the enemy in there, what he repeated. When he’s talking about the American people, that’s not what you just showed,” she said. “He has repeated it many times, and you and I both know it. And you and I both know that he has talked about turning the American military against the American people. He has spoken about pursuing people involved in peaceful protest. He’s talked about locking people up because they disagree with him.

“This is a democracy! And in a democracy, the president of the United States, in the United States of America, should be willing to take criticism without saying he would lock people up for it. And this is what is at stake. That’s why you have someone like the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff saying what Mark Milley said about Donald Trump being a threat to the United States of America.”

That seems like a roundabout way of saying, “Look, this has been a farce, and you’re an unapologetic hack, so let me take away your last shred of professional dignity and go back to the hotel,” but that’s just me.

Now on to the real meat of Thursday’s campaign. El Caudillo del Mar-a-Lago held two meet-the-voters appearances, one a “women’s event” and the other a performance on Univision to reach “Hispanic voters.” On both occasions, he has provided further evidence that he is not worthy of cleaning up the White House fluff.

The “women’s event” was hosted by Fox anchor Harris Faulkner and featured an audience of screaming MAGA scarves and Republican activists. Faulkner pointed out that the family of Amber Thurman, the woman who died because of the Supreme Court ruling he is so proud of, held a news conference with the vice president. And this is what the Republican presidential candidate responded:

“Oh, that’s nice. We will get better ratings, I promise.”

Sample. Idiot monster, that’s true, but a monster nonetheless. And his carefully curated audience found it all so hilarious. Monsters. Crazy monsters, that’s true, but monsters nonetheless.

Then, on Univision, the former president* awkwardly dodged a question about why he said the Haitians in Springfield, Ohio ate pets, but added that the migrants “also ate other things that they weren’t supposed to.” Hey? But then a construction worker named Ramiro Gonzalez grabbed the microphone.

“I’m a Republican. I want to give you the opportunity to try to win my vote back. Your action, and perhaps your inaction, during your presidency and in recent years… has been a little disturbing to me. What happened on January 6 and the fact that you waited so long to take action while your supporters attacked the Capitol.”

And we were off.

“Hundreds of thousands of people came to Washington. They didn’t come because of me, they came because of the elections.’ Some of those people went to the Capitol – I said, ‘peacefully and patriotically.’ Done nothing wrong. Not at all. Done nothing wrong. That was a day of love from the point of view of millions of people.”

A day full of love.

A day full of love.

It was quite a day for revelations.
