Cheese recall: Brie removed from shelves in 12 states, toss as soon as possible or return for refund

Six different types of Brie cheese are being recalled in twelve states, including New Jersey, due to the presence of listeria.

Savencia Cheese USA has recalled the six different types of Brie after routine testing of processing equipment at the plant where the cheese is made revealed the presence of listeria contamination, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.

No illnesses or deaths have been reported to date in connection with the current recall.

The cheeses had “limited distribution” in stores across the US, but the few supermarkets that had the product, Aldi and Market Basket, had removed them from their shelves.

According to USA Today, the states affected by the recall are:

  1. New Jersey
  2. Indiana
  3. Missouri
  4. Massachusetts
  5. Connecticut
  6. Texas
  7. Iowa
  8. California
  9. Oregon
  10. Colorado
  11. Washington
  12. Illinois

The FDA warned that consumers in possession of the recalled cheeses should not consume them and should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
