Windy weather brings sharp chills to Las Vegas

Grab your sweater, because fall has finally arrived, but it won’t last long.

Strong winds blew through Las Vegas overnight into Friday morning, and temperatures have dropped sharply from the record highs of early October.

A wind advisory has been issued for Southern Nevada until 11 p.m. Friday. According to the National Weather Service, northwest winds will measure between 25 and 35 miles per hour, with gusts up to 50 miles per hour.

A wind advisory remains in effect until Friday evening.

Expect patchy blowing dust between 11am and 2pm

Wind speeds will gradually decrease through the remainder of the weekend as temperatures move closer to seasonal averages.

The forecast high temperature in Las Vegas is about 20 degrees cooler than temperatures just 2 days ago.

The first taste of fall won’t last long as strong high pressure promises to build back up across much of the West. This will cause our temperatures to rise and return to above normal early next week.
