Two likely 5A football state playoff teams meet Friday when Willamette hosts Churchill in The Register-Guard’s Game of the Week in a 5A Special District 4 matchup at 7 p.m.

Churchill (5-1, 5-0 SD4) is fifth in this week’s 5A coaching poll, while Willamette (6-0, 5-0) is unranked but among the votes. Both schools changed their programs after struggles in 2023. Churchill was 3-6, while Willamette, a 6A school that played 5A football, was 0-9.
