Garret Rangel injury update: Oklahoma State football QB out vs. BYU

Oklahoma State quarterback Garret Rangel is out for the remainder of a road game against No. 13-ranked BYU on Friday.

Rangel left the game late in the second quarter after breaking away for a 54-yard run. OSU sideline reporter Robert Allen reported that the redshirt sophomore suffered a left collarbone injury.

Friday’s game marked the first start of the season for Rangel, who replaced the struggling Alan Bowman. Rangel completed six of his nine passes (66.7%) for 51 yards, one touchdown and one interception prior to his injury, and he ran the ball five times for 77 yards.

Bowman now plays for OSU. The seventh-year quarterback started the first six games of the season for the Cowboys.

OSU (3-3, 0-3 Big 12) has a 21-14 lead over BYU (6-0, 3-0 Big 12) with 9:52 left in the third quarter.

“Bowman is in. Rangel is out. It is what it is,” OSU coach Mike Gundy said during his halftime radio interview.
