NEW DELHI: The talk surrounding David Warner’s comeback for the Border Gavaskar TrophyAustralia captain Pat Cummins said the team loves the former opener but will not consider him for the marquee series against India.
Warner, who retired after the Sydney Test against Pakistan earlier this year, recently offered to make a comeback. Warner said he is always available and just a phone call away.
In Warner’s absence, Steve Smith opened up for the team, but the management decision has not yet been fully finalized.

Responding to the 37-year-old’s comments on The Grade Cricketer podcast, Cummins called the offer a bit of a relief. He then cheekily said that the team is interested and will be in touch.

“Dave, we’re very interested. We’re taking it very seriously and we’ll be in touch, mate,” Cummins said on the podcast.
“I talked to Dave a few days ago. I can’t remember if he reached out or if I did… he said, ‘What do you think?’, and I was like, ‘Yeah, good luck with (Sydney) Thunder and I look forward to your commentary on Fox,” he said.
“I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. I think it (offer) is a little bit exaggerated, but I think he doesn’t mind seeing himself on the back page. We love Davey, but he’s with retirement,” Cummins added. .
