No. No. 14 Texas A&M football (6-1, 4-0) and No. 7 LSU (6-1, 3-0) collide on a national stage, with huge implications for the college football playoffs on the line as the Aggies have pulled back ahead in the second half.

The Aggies committed five penalties in the first two quarters, and the defense struggled to stop LSU’s passing attack, giving up 259 yards in the two quarters. A&M’s offense hasn’t produced many plays on its own, with quarterback Conner Weigman completing five of his 14 passing attempts for 49 yards.

LSU has outscored the Aggies 283 to 147 and has 11 first downs to its name, compared to A&M’s eight.

LSU has also won six straight and boasts victories over Ole Miss and Arkansas in the past two weeks. Starting Aggies quarterback Conner Weigman is 1-0 against LSU in his career, with a win in 2022, 38-23. The Aggies and Tigers will face off under the lights at Kyle Field in front of a national television audience.

Score updates for Texas A&M vs. LSU

The Aggies have scored four consecutive touchdowns since Reed was inserted into the game, and as the midway point of the fourth quarter approaches, the Reed-led offense goes up double digits again with a four-play, 75-yard drive. 35-23.

After three unanswered touchdowns from the Aggies, the Tigers answered with a scoring drive of their own to cut the lead to four. The nine-play, 78-yard drive was capped by a one-yard plunge by Nussmeier, followed by a failed two-point attempt to cut the lead to 28-23.

Three drives, three touchdowns. The use of Marcel Reed at quarterback completely changed the game for the Aggies. His last was from four yards out to give the Aggies a 28-17 lead.

On the final offensive possession, the Aggies deployed backup quarterback Marcel Reed, and he made the first play for a touchdown. He followed that up with a seven-play, 60-yard drive capped by a perfectly executed QB draw to give A&M its first lead of the game, 21-17.

All night long, the Aggies struggled to find any kind of rhythm. Looking for a play to spark them, defensive back BJ Mayes answers the call with an interception, setting up his offense at the LSU 8-yard line. Aggies bring in backup quarterback Marcel Reed, who takes the shotgun snap and capitalizes on an 8-yard touchdown run to cut the lead to 17-14.

The Aggies struggled with penalties, committing five in the first two quarters while the defense allowed 7.6 yards per play, leaving A&M trailing 17-7 after a scrappy first half.

A three-play drive was all it took for the Tigers to cut their lead to 10. Nussmeier finds wide receiver Aaron Anderson for 76 yards to push the lead to 17-7.

A&M fell behind two possessions and had to react to keep the game from getting out of hand. A nine-play, 75-yard drive, capped by a 7-yard Moss touchdown run, is exactly what they needed to tighten the Tigers’ lead to 10-7.

Aggies running back Le’Veon Moss caught a third-down check but fumbled, and LSU was there to pick up the mistake. A&M added a 15-yard personal foul, putting the Tigers within 21. LSU took advantage of the mistake with a 2-yard touchdown pass from Garrett Nussmeier to Mason Taylor to extend the lead to 10-0.

After punts from every foul, including a three-and-out by the Tigers, LSU found a rhythm on its second possession. It drove eight plays and 86 yards to add three points and take an early 3-0 lead.
