NEW DELHI: For the first time in their Test history dating back to 1933, India were whitewashed 0-3 in a series of three or more matches by New Zealand on Sunday as the visitors triumphed by 25 runs in the third and final Test in Mumbai.
The BlackCaps, who landed here after being defeated 0-2 by a Sri Lankan team, stunned the hosts and produced exceptional all-round performances across the three Tests to claim an unprecedented series victory.
Chasing a tricky 147 on a deteriorating Wankhede track on the third day, India suffered another batting collapse and folded for 121 in the chase, handing the Kiwis a memorable win.
Playing for their pride after taking a 2-0 lead, India surrendered in the chase, with only three batters reaching the double-digit mark in the chase.
Soon after the defeat, the Indian team was criticized from all quarters for their irresponsible performance in the series.

Amid yet another horror show from the batters, Rishabh Pant was the lone bright spot in the chase as he threatened to take the match away with his superb 64-run knock.
However, in the second session he got a close call and after that it was only a matter of time for the Kiwi victory.
Left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel took six wickets, while part-timer Glenn Phillips also bagged three wickets as India were bowled out for 121 inside 30 overs.
