The weather expected in the US on Election Day

Weather conditions could be a factor in how many people vote in person Election Day.

The strongest weather in the US forecast for Tuesday is in Montana, where there could be snowstorms, but that state is not a battleground and is heavily favored to go for Donald Trump.

Key battleground states, including Michigan and Wisconsin, are expected to see some rain.

Here are the election day predictions for the seven most controversial states.

Arizona

In Phoenix and Tucson and many other regions of the state, temperatures will be in the 60s (15.6-20.6 C) to low 70s (low 20s Celsius). Temperatures will be cooler in northern areas. The state will be mostly dry with only light precipitation possible near the Utah border.

Georgia

In Georgia, temperatures are expected to be in the mid 70s (around 75 degrees Fahrenheit) to 80 degrees (high 20 degrees Fahrenheit). Southwestern parts of the state may see light rain late Tuesday.

Michigan

Temperatures will be above normal (21-26 degrees Celsius) in the 70s in Michigan and southern parts of the state. In Detroit, temperatures could be in the low 70s (around 25 degrees Celsius). A few thunderstorms are possible in Lower Michigan later today. The Upper Peninsula will see temperatures in the 50s (10-15 C) and 60s (15.6-20.6 C) and about 1.3 inches of rain.

Nevada

Temperatures are expected in the 60s (15.6-20.6 C) across the state. Las Vegas could approach the high 70s (21 C) and Reno will be in the mid 50s (low teens C). At higher elevations, temperatures will be in the low 20s (around minus 5 C) in the morning and warm up in the afternoon.

North Carolina

Temperatures are expected in the mid 70s to 80s (mid 20s Celsius), with isolated showers possible in western parts of the state.

Pennsylvania

No rainfall is expected in Pennsylvania. Temperatures will be in the 70s and near 80s (mid 20s Celsius) in some western regions, including Pittsburgh.

Wisconsin

Much of central and eastern Wisconsin will be in the 60s (15.6-20.6 C). Temperatures will be closer to 45 or 50 degrees (about 8 degrees Celsius) near the Minnesota border. Conditions will be wet all day. The northern half of the state could receive about 1.3 inches of rain, while less is expected in the southern half.

The weather throughout the country

Most of Tuesday’s rainfall is expected in the central US, where scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible. In addition to the possible snowstorms in western Montana, snow is also forecast in parts of Idaho, eastern Washington and Oregon. Calm weather is expected in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southwest. California’s windy, dry weather creates a fire hazard.

These forecasts come from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Weather Prediction Center.
