Zinke and Tranel await the results of the Western Congressional race in Montana

UPDATE: 10:03 PM – November 5, 2024

Democratic U.S. House of Representatives candidate Monica Tranel delivered her first speech of the evening to supporters in Missoula.

She told everyone present to wait another long night as votes were still being counted.

Meanwhile, Republican incumbent Ryan Zinke continues to talk to supporters in Whitefish as votes from Tuesday’s election continue to be counted.

The Tuesday. There will be repeat contests for Montana’s Western Congressional seat in the general election on November 5, 2024.

Incumbent Republican Ryan Zinke and Democrat Monica Tranel are again on the ballot.

Zinke served in the Montana Senate from 2009 to 2013 and in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2015 to 2017. From 2017 to 2019, he also served as US Secretary of the Interior under President Donald Trump.

Tranel is a lawyer with experience at the Public Service Commission. She was also an athlete at the Olympic Games competing in rowing.

During the last election cycle, Zinke defeated Tranel 50% to 46%.

The candidates faced off at a forum moderated by MTN Senior Political Reporter Jonathon Ambarian in Helena on October 12, 2024.
