Nick Kyrgios will return to competitive tennis at the Brisbane International in December

Nick Kyrgios says he feels “fit and healthy” after announcing his return to competitive tennis at the Brisbane International at the end of December.

The 29-year-old Australian has played just one ATP Tour singles match in two years due to knee, foot and wrist injuries.

The event in Brisbane starts the 2025 season and is a warm-up for the Australian Open, which starts on January 12.

“It’s been a long journey of recovery to be where I am today,” Kyrgios said.

“One of the goals I set was to be able to play during the Australian summer, so I’m happy to be starting in Brisbane, one of my favorite tournaments.”

In October, Kyrgios, who was defeated by Novak Djokovic in the 2022 Wimbledon final, said he planned to return at the World Tennis League event in Abu Dhabi in December.

He won the Brisbane International in 2018, beating American Ryan Harrison in the final, and will make his fourth appearance at the tournament.

“I feel fit and healthy, and I am looking forward to my return to tennis after some time away from the sport,” Kyrgios said.
