Mike Tyson jokes about ‘biting fixation’ after fight with Jake Paul

Mike Tyson may have lost, but at least he kept his sense of humor.

Following his unanimous decision loss to Jake Paul on Friday night, Tyson was asked by ring reporter Ariel Helwani about his habit of biting his boxing glove, which caught the attention of many watching the highly anticipated Netflix fight.

“I have a habit of biting my glove, yes,” he said. “I have a biting fixation.”

The post-fight jab prompted awkward chuckles as it was an apparent reference to his 1997 rematch with Evander Holyfield, which bizarrely ended with Tyson biting off part of Holyfield’s ear.

Tyson was disqualified and lost his boxing license for 15 months due to the incident.

It’s a history Paul was acutely aware of as he showed up to Wednesday’s pre-fight press conference wearing a $200,000 diamond-encrusted earmuff.

“I’m not going to let anyone bite me off on Friday night,” Paul said. “I have my diamond-tipped earmuffs.”

As it turned out, the 27-year-old didn’t need much protection during the fight, which drew boos from the AT&T Stadium crowd as the fighters danced around each other with little action in the final few rounds of their fight.

Paul may have to lend them to his brother Logan instead, who received an unofficial challenge from Tyson after the fight.

“F–k, I’ll kill you Mike,” Logan told him.
