Georgia Football has packed its bags and moved from Athens to six different states in its first nine games.

Finally, the Bulldogs will be back between the hedges for the first time in five weeks on Saturday night for a game they likely can’t afford to lose if they want to make the College Football Playoff.

It’s the CFP No. 12 Bulldogs vs. No. 7 Tennessee.

Call it a top-10 matchup in the eyes of the coaches poll with No. 10 UGA versus the No. 4 Vols.

Georgia (7-2, 5-2 SEC) has suffered two losses on the road, but it brings the nation’s best 28-game home streak into this one against Tennessee (8-1, 5-1 SEC).

“I just think a home game in the SEC is hell for the road team,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said. “I think it’s really hard, man. It’s hard. I tell people this all the time. I told our offensive line that in the SEC it’s harder to play on the road at the offensive line, tackles and some of those positions that are timing positions and snap count positions than it is in the NFL until the playoffs.

Tennessee with an impressive opening drive of 12 plays, 78 yards that ended with a 1-yard touchdown run by Miles Kitselman. Vols led 7-0 with 10:09 left in the first quarter.

Kirby Smart said on the pregame radio show that inside linebacker CJ Allen “hasn’t practiced all week,” with an injury he did not describe. Allen was previously among the starters with Raylen Wilson and looked like he was moving well.

Smart said inside linebacker Smael Mondon, who returned from injury last week, is “having a hard time getting going again.”

The running back order pregame: Nate Frazier, Cash Jones, Chauncey Bowens and Dwight Phillips

It appears Georgia will have a change in its offensive line.

Monroe Freeling is lined up as the starting left tackle with Bo Hughley on the second team.

Earnest Greene, who is dealing with a shoulder injury, is dressed but not currently warming up. He previously worked in the second team.

Micah Morris, who is nursing a leg injury, is working with the second team behind Tate Ratledge at right guard.

Good news for Georgia as Anthony Evans warms up on punt returns. He is still listed as questionable due to a hamstring injury after missing the last two games, but it appears he will be eligible to play.

As expected, running back Cash Jones is on the field catching passes in the end zone. Kirby Smart has said he will play. He is still listed as questionable on the final SEC availability report released 90 minutes before kickoff with an apparent foot injury. Here’s our story on what the running back situation is tonight without Trevor Etienne.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart expressed his displeasure with the energy level of the home fans after the win at Auburn last month. On Thursday evening he was asked in his radio program what he wanted from the fans this time.

“Loud, loud, loud, even louder,” he said. “When you’re frustrated and angry, be loud. That’s what you gotta do. You gotta get really loud, especially when they have the ball. If they’re going real fast and you have a hot dog and a Coke, you might miss twenty times play… Once they break the ball, they’re going to break it again, we have to be loud every time.

The students are all busy darkening Sanford Stadium. The lower level student sections are now filling with students wearing black. Some Georgia football players and staffers have posted on social media that fans should wear black.

Ten NFL teams have qualified for tonight’s game. Scouts are expected from the Colts, Browns, Dolphins, Giants, Jets, Saints, Eagles, Seahawks, Titans and Bears. Vols’ James Pearce is considered a first-round prospect, as are Georgia’s Mykel Williams, linebacker Jalon Walker and safety Malaki Starks.

Senior offensive guard Tate Ratledge is expected to play as he battles through his ankle injury. He is a game captain along with senior wideout Dominic Lovett, sophomore inside linebacker CJ Allen and senior outside linebacker Chaz Chambliss.

The referee for tonight’s match is David Smith. He played Georgia’s game against UAB in 2023.

Georgia vs. Tennessee Prediction

Georgia 24, Tennessee 21

Georgia is a team that works on offense, but because the stakes are so high here, you need to look for players who are willing to dig in and try to battle it out. The Bulldogs will have to sustain their drives and limit turnovers against a Tennessee defense that doesn’t give up many big plays. Look for Georgia to turn up the pressure.
