Four observations from Bayern Munich’s nail-biting 1-0 win over PSG

In matches like these, it’s the score that counts. Bayern Munich may not have been perfect, but they earned three critical points in this Champions League campaign. It certainly wasn’t a bad performance, but things still don’t quite click with the team.

Defenders became strikers

Kim Min-Jae has now scored his third goal for the club, having recently teamed up with Dayot Upamecano. Bayern Munich have finally scored some well-rounded goals after a lack of defensive goals last season. It’s a relief to see Kane and company getting some extra help.

Coman needs to improve his finishing

Call us a broken record. Yes, finishing has remained Coman’s primary problem throughout his career. Tonight it could have cost Bayern another victory. Without a doubt, Coman should have scored tonight because of his chances. Olise would almost certainly have scored, but everyone has their days off. It seems like Coman’s belt is a little longer than most.

Depth in midfield paid off

With Aleksander Pavlovic and João Palhinha out, Leon Goretzka and Konrad Laimer held on. It’s times like these where a lack of depth can cost teams games, but Bayern’s depth paid off when players like Laimer and Goretzka were able to step in.

Bayern has difficulty putting away matches

When Dembele was sent off for a second yellow card, that should have sealed the victory. Still, Bayern struggled for a second goal, while PSG threatened with an equalizer. Not every game can be 7-0, but this was probably too close than it needed to be.
