2024 US Open Tennis Results: Winners, Losers & Highlights from Wednesday’s Bracket | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats & Rumors

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - SEPTEMBER 4: Jessica Pegula of the United States returns a blow against Iga Swiatek of Poland during their women's singles quarterfinal match on day ten of the 2024 US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on September 4, 2024 in the Flushing neighborhood of Queens in New York City. Jessica Pegula’s summer just keeps getting better.

After beating Iga Swiatek in her seventh quarter-final, she is now in the semi-finals of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career.

Pegula wasn’t necessarily dominant at the start, but Swiatek’s slow start made the difference.

The top seeded player started the first set hesitantly and struggled to find her groove, especially with her serve. Out of a total of twenty-two serves, she only managed to score five.

In addition, she struggled with her movements and made 19 unforced errors in the first set, which is unusual for her even in a two-set match. There were only three winners.

In the second set, Swiatek regained her top form, but unforced errors continued to be her Achilles hell.

Pegula continued to dominate the forehand rallies, but then took a decisive service break and won in three sets.

On Thursday, Pegula will look to continue her dominant summer against Karolina Muchova, who has now reached the semi-finals for the first time in a row.
