Aaron Judge’s postseason struggles follow him to the World Series

A week off hasn’t yet shaken Aaron Judge from his postseason slumber.

Judge started the World Series 0-for-2 and struckout both at bats against Dodgers starter Jack Flaherty on Friday evening.

Judge entered the World Series going 5-for-31 in the series wins over the Royals and Guardians, his bat quiet except for late-inning home runs in Games 2 and 3 of the ALCS.

Judge’s superstar counterpart, Shohei Ohtani, also started 0-for-2.

Ohtani crushed Gerrit Cole’s first pitch of the game to the warning track, where Judge grabbed it.

The Japanese DH then struckout in his second at bat, sending the game scoreless into the fourth inning.

Judge hit 58 home runs and challenged the Triple Crown in the regular season, but has yet to make a mark in the playoffs.

“The journey is always tough, but that’s the fun of it all,” Judge said earlier this week. “There have been good times and bad times, but now that we’ve gotten to this point, the real fun begins. For years as a kid I watched the Yankees play and win the World Series. That excitement, the emotion, the city comes to life. It’s special. I look forward to doing that with this group.”
