Aaron Rodgers slams ‘ridiculous’ NFL referees after Jets loss to Bills

Aaron Rodgers came out swinging at the NFL referees Monday night after the New York Jets’ loss to the Buffalo Bills.

The officiating team, led by referee Adrian Hill, called 22 penalties during the match – tied for the most penalties in any match this season.

To make matters worse, the two teams combined for an outrageous 204 yards of penalty, with Rodgers’ Jets flagged 11 times for 110 yards in their first game without head coach Robert Saleh.

The 40-year-old was undeterred as he blasted Hill and his side for the flurry of penalties that continually halted the momentum and pace of play, causing fans to brand the match ‘unwatchable’.

“It seemed a little ridiculous,” the quarterback said after the 23-20 loss at MetLife Stadium.

Bills edge rusher AJ Epenesa was called for unnecessary roughness on the veteran who gave New York a first down, while Jets defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw was called for roughing the passer.

Despite one of the penalties going his way, Rodgers nailed both, making a ‘South Park’ reference to get his point across.

“Some of them seemed really bad, including harassing the passer on me,” the four-time MVP said.

‘That’s not bothering the passer-by. We might as well be playing Sarcastaball if we’re going to call those things. I also thought the one about Kinlaw didn’t bother the passerby.’

“Sarcastaball” is a reference from a season 16 episode of “South Park,” which featured a segment criticizing the NFL’s actions.

It was the Jets’ first game since the firing of head coach Robert Saleh, but their season went from bad to worse under new interim boss Jeff Ulbrich.

New York reached the red zone four times, but converted just once and scored just 20 points in their fourth loss of the season.

And Rodgers didn’t hesitate to launch an astonishing attack on his own team.

‘This was a golden opportunity. Some games you win in the NFL, some games you give away. This was a giveaway,” he said.

“We were terrible in the red zone. We missed two field goals, we didn’t convert on a two-minute drive.

‘We’ve had enough chances. We had the momentum. We had good drives, we moved the ball back and forth across the field, so it’s disappointing.”
