SUNDAY

Today will be another beautiful day with highs in the 70s. We’re expecting clear skies and sunshine, so don’t forget your sunglasses!

Overnight lows will be in the upper 30s to low 40s.

The Orionid meteor shower peak tonight! Look southeast between midnight and sunrise to see bright meteors streaking across the sky. With clear nights in the forecast, viewing conditions are ideal. Remember to move away from light pollution to get the best view.

Don’t forget the 80,000-year comet, which will appear in the western sky after sunset until the end of the month!

THE WEEK IS OVER

We end October with a calm weather pattern. Our next front arrives late Wednesday into Thursday. It will be a dry front, but it will cool down in the second half of the week.

Highs are generally in the upper 60s and 70s.

Lows will warm into the 40s and low 50s.

AUTUMN FIRE SEASON

The fall fire season runs from October 15 to November 30. Never burn on hot, dry and windy days and know the local fire regulations in your region. If you must burn outside, never leave your fire unattended. Remember that approximately 90% of forest fires are caused by humans!

AUTUMN LEAVED UPDATE

We are approaching the end of October, which means the fall peak is happening or about to happen! The Greenbrier and areas west of the Blue Ridge will experience moderate to high coverage of fall colors this weekend.

Elsewhere, subtle color accents are slowly arriving. The fall peak will likely occur in the next 1-2 weeks. Now that Virginia’s Blue Ridge Parkway is open again, you can do some leaf peeping!
