The first two episodes of Marvel Studios’ newest Disney+ series, Agatha Always Alreadyare now streaming and the season premiere appears to confirm Wanda Maximoff’s (Elizabeth Olsen) fate.

After her murderous rampage in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessthe former Avenger buried herself beneath the rubble of Mount Wundagore. A flash of red light led to speculation that she might have survived, but the first episode of Agatha All Along makes it pretty clear that the Jane Doe Detective thinks Agnes is “truly dead.”

The Scarlet Witch may be dead…but what about Wanda?

The Wrap asked showrunner Jac Schaeffer about the character’s fate, wondering if “the crash might have killed the Scarlet Witch, but not Wanda herself.”

“I keep such a good poker face. What I’m saying is, I really like how your mind works,” teased Schaeffer. “That’s my response to that theory.”

Schaeffer kept it a secret whether Olsen would guest star, but he did not rule out the possibility. “This is the Agatha Harkness show. So that’s what I’ll say, Agatha is a lady at the center.”

It’s almost certain that Olsen will reprise the role later, but we’ve heard conflicting reports about her involvement in this series. However, the fact that Wanda/Scarlet Witch is mentioned so often in the first four episodes bodes well for a cameo in the finale.

The first 4 episodes of #AgathaAllesLangs are pretty awesome. Very funny, a little strange (though not as creepy as I had hoped), with a few musical numbers thrown in for good measure. The story hasn’t really come together yet, but it’s a lot of fun to walk around with these witches.

The new series will focus on Kathryn Hahn’s character, Agatha Harkness, from the acclaimed Marvel Studios series WandaVisionas she embarks on a dangerous, mysterious adventure filled with trials and tribulations. Showrunner Jac Schaeffer, who was the creative force behind WandaVision, directs the pilot episode.

“In Agatha All Along, the notorious Agatha Harkness finds herself powerless after a suspicious goth teen helps free her from a distorted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical series of trials that, if she survives, rewards a witch with what they’ve lost. Together, Agatha and the mysterious teen form a desperate coven and set out on a journey down, down, down The Road…”

In addition to Kathryn Hahn, Agatha All Along stars Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, Paul Adelstein, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, with Debra Jo Rupp, with Patti LuPone and Aubrey Plaza. The executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Mary Livanos and Jac Schaeffer. The series directors are Jac Schaeffer, Rachel Goldberg and Gandja Montiero.

Marvel Televisions Agatha Always Already premieres September 18 at 6:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. ET, with the first two episodes available exclusively on Disney+.
