Alabama faces a historic deficit to Oklahoma as its CFP hopes hang in the balance

Alabama entered tonight’s game as 13.5-point favorites against an Oklahoma team that had won just one SEC game on Saturday night. The Crimson Tide controlled their own destiny to make the College Football Playoff and had a great chance to make the SEC Championship.

However, it was a nightmare in Norman for the Crimson Tide as they trailed 24-3 midway through the fourth quarter. The offense has struggled all night against Oklahoma as Milroe has thrown two interceptions in the second half. This is a deficit the Crimson Tide hasn’t seen in a long time.

This should have been a relatively easy game for Alabama, but the opposite happened. The Crimson Tide hasn’t trailed an unranked team by more than 21 points in a game since 2003.

Falling behind by that number is also not something the team has experienced often against ranked teams.

Alabama seemed to be turning the corner in recent weeks as the team looked like it was back on track to making the CFP. However, the Crimson Tide will be eliminated from the conversation unless they complete one of the best comebacks in school history.
