Tyler Francis and Ashley Adionser seemed to be one of the most drama-free, wholesome couples in “Love Is Blind” history for most of Season 7.

Then Tyler delivered some shocking news about his fiancée just two weeks before they were set to walk down the aisle.

Tyler revealed that he had previously fathered three children as a sperm donor, leaving Ashley to decide whether she could move forward with their relationship.

What Tyler and Ashley said about their relationship in an interview with TODAY.com

Sparks flew when Ashley, a 32-year-old marketing director, and Tyler, a 34-year-old account executive, started talking in the dating pods.

The duo quickly bonded over their devotion to spirituality and their love of food (and Tyler’s willingness to do his fair share of cooking). Tyler described Ashley as a 12 out of 10 while speaking to his male castmates. She called him a rare “unicorn.”

“Ashley was my first date and it was a sense of security that I got from her that I’ve never felt before,” Tyler told TODAY.com in an interview.

Ashley explained why she felt confident in her relationship with Tyler from the start.

“I think this time I was just willing to take a risk and lead by feelings over logic, something I don’t do naturally. And honestly, it’s weird because when you date in the pods, it doesn’t feel like being in love. You feel deeply and madly in love in an insane amount of time,” she told TODAY.com.

Ashley said at one point she thought she was “crazy” and wondered, “How could this happen?”

“Because I was a bit skeptical. But I just felt true to myself. I felt loyal to him. “I felt like he was someone I would love to be engaged to,” she said.

When asked why he was confident his relationship with Ashley would work out, Tyler said the following.

“It was just a feeling I’ve never felt before in my life. From day one it was Ashley. It was a feeling I continued to feel with her. It was just safe. It was hot. It felt like the most love I’ve ever experienced,” he said.

How did they address Tyler’s children?

The couple seemed destined to say yes when they moved in together and their relationship went smoothly. Tyler got the seal of approval from Ashley’s father, who gave him his blessing to marry his daughter.

However, things got tricky when Tyler revealed that he had fathered three children.

In the dating pods, Tyler revealed that he wanted a big family. Throughout the experiment, the couple seemed to be on the same page about their desire to have children and the timing of starting a family.

Then in episode 9, Ashley learned that Tyler was already a father. Tyler said he fathered three children as a sperm donor with a friend but was not actively involved in their lives.

Surprisingly, Ashley had mixed feelings.

“I just can’t think about it without even thinking about your past. We talked about children every day. It’s not yours childchildren. But they’re your kids, and it’s with someone you know,” she said.

“I’m not mad if you try to help a couple have children,” she said. “I think that’s admirable in some ways. But the problem arises in that I feel like I didn’t get the full picture of you, and once you don’t get the full picture of something, it’s hard not to question everything. Being a single woman before this, to fall in love in this scenario with a man who has three sperm donor babies is a lot to process and the wedding is in about two weeks.

Tyler listened patiently to his fiancée’s perspective and then spoke.

“I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m just asking for a chance. I would really like to marry you,” he said.

After thinking about it for a while, Ashley decided she was ready to move forward with their relationship.

“I feel like I want you in my life no matter what. It’s not what I meant for myself, but I feel like it’s worth the reward, and you are,” she told Tyler.

Bri Thomas, the mother of Tyler’s children, shared conflicting details in a series of five videos she posted to Instagram on October 20.

Thomas confirmed that Tyler offered to help her and her ex-wife conceive a child. When the couple separated, Tyler offered to help raise their son, Thomas said.

The two other children, twins, were later conceived through “natural, unplanned intercourse without any complexity surrounding parenthood,” she said.

Although Thomas said she never “dated” Tyler, she did say they “co-parented” their three children before he started filming “Love Is Blind.”

Thomas said she and Tyler are currently involved in custody-related legal proceedings.

TODAY.com has obtained a lawsuit in Baltimore sharing details of a January 2024 custody case between Thomas and Tyler. The case was first filed in 2021 and later reopened with a contempt petition.

Did Ashley and Tyler Get Married in the ‘Love Is Blind’ Finale?

On the day of their wedding, Tyler reflected on his love for Ashley in a confessional, calling her “my best friend” and “soulmate.”

“She’s a great person overall. To me she is the most beautiful person in the world. (I) can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her. Ashley is everything,” he said.

While getting her hair and makeup done, Ashley described her bond with Tyler to her friends.

“I’m glad I found someone who loves as much as I do. I feel safe. Protecting the physical is cool, but I feel protected emotionally, which is the most vulnerable part of myself that I don’t share with everyone,” she said.

When the moment of truth arrived, the couple made romantic vows. Tyler was the first to say yes, followed by Ashley.

At their reception, the couple answered the looming question: Is love really blind?

“Love is blind. Love is blind to me, I’ll say it again. I have my person and my best friend,” Tyler said.

“I wouldn’t have found love like this if I hadn’t done this experiment and looked at someone for who they are on the inside,” Ashley noted.
