Colorado fans felt so good about beating Baylor that they stormed the court, twice, much to Deion Sanders’ chagrin.

The Buffaloes’ 38-31 win over unranked Baylor in the Big 12 opener ended in chaos. Within a few minutes, Baylor appeared to be on the verge of scoring a game-tying touchdown, Colorado appeared to force a fumble, the play went to a review, Colorado fans stormed the field, the PA announcer begged them to leave the field, the officials ruled the play a fumble, and Colorado fans stormed the field again.

And that was only after regular time had ended with a Hail Mary.

The game came down to a first-and-goal play from the 2-yard line, with Baylor needing a touchdown to send the game to a second overtime. Baylor running back Dominic Richardson found enough space to likely score a touchdown, but unfortunately Travis Hunter got in the way.

The first-round NFL Draft prospect found the ball at the perfect time and forced a fumble in the end zone.

Colorado recovered the ball, but officials had to review the play to make sure Richardson actually lost it before flying for a touchdown. The review would likely have gone in the Buffaloes’ favor, but their fans decided they didn’t want to wait.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please leave the field, the play is under review,” the Colorado PA announcer could be heard saying.

It didn’t take long for officials to hold the call on the field, opening the door for a full-court rush. Colorado was a 2.5-point favorite on BetMGM.

One person who wasn’t happy with how the game ended was Sanders. The Colorado head coach apologized during a call with reporters for the storm on the court, which he said prevented him from shaking hands with Baylor head coach Dave Aranda.

“That’s not professional, I wanted to shake his hand and thank him,” Sanders said, via Tyler King of the Denver Gazette.

The win improves Colorado’s record to 3-1, one win shy of last year’s total. The Buffaloes will look to equal that mark next weekend when they face UCF.
