Signing up for a movie that’s as visually stimulating as Bad means you essentially have a built-in wardrobe strategy for the press tour. Method dressing has never been easier. So it’s no surprise that Bad’The series’ big stars – Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande – have been sporting green and pink looks respectively for months as a nod to their characters, the green witch Elphaba and the pink-loving witch Glinda. However, at the premiere in Mexico City for Bad: Part Onethe duo dropped the color theme for outfits that took a less flashy approach.

Grande looked like the embodiment of magic itself in a white fairytale ball gown with an opalescent sheen. The strapless dress, from Atelier Versace, had a deep V-shaped neckline that reached the center of her stomach. A corseted bodice sunk into a swirl of frothy and iridescent fabric that was draped over the entire skirt, an apparent nod to Glinda’s iconic bubble dress. She completed the look with a diamond necklace and white platform heels.

As for Erivo, the Tony Award-winning actor made a statement in an artsy Thom Browne ensemble. The unique look featured a sparkling bodycon dress with exaggerated hips and buttons tied all the way down the middle. But the real showstopper came in the form of the hooded trompe l’oeil bolero, which featured a curled hand with a razor-sharp manicure on each shoulder. Erivo herself sported her usual extravagant manicure and sported a style with a sparkling red and black design; she further accessorized them with blue dangling earrings, diamond encrusted rings and black platform heels.
