Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan scores TD in loss vs. West Virginia

Arizona Wildcats wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan scored a touchdown in Saturday’s 31-26 loss to the West Virginia Mountaineers.

It was the first since his four-touchdown performance in Week 1.

Trailing 31-13 in the fourth quarter, Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita threw a 34-yard pass right into McMillan’s hands, cutting the Mountaineers’ lead to just 12 points.

In the Wildcats’ Week 1 61–39 victory against the New Mexico Lobos, McMillan set Arizona’s single-game receiving record with 304 receiving yards en route to four touchdown receptions.

He has been kept quiet since then as he failed to score in every match leading up to Saturday.

In Saturday’s loss, McMillan recorded 10 receptions for 202 yards and one touchdown. It was McMillan’s first 200-yard race since Week 1.

Fifita finished the day 21-for-31 with 294 yards and two touchdowns.

A slow start for the Wildcats

The Wildcats struggled out of the gate, trailing 24-7 early in the third quarter, amid mishaps early in the first quarter that halted the momentum early in the game.

Slowly, the Wildcats clawed their way back to make it a five-point game with 4:35 remaining.

However, Arizona failed to get the ball back as West Virginia drove down the field and ran out the clock, making the score 31–26.

The once-ranked No. 20 Wildcats have dropped four in a row en route to a 3-5 record.
