Armed Robbery at Marion Loves Truck Stop

MCDOWELL COUNTY, NC (WSPA) – Marion Police responded to an armed robbery at a Loves Truck Stop on NC 226 South Friday afternoon.

According to police, preliminary investigation revealed that a man was driving a 2003 Isuzu SUV towing a U-Haul trailer and was filling up with gas when an unknown man approached him brandishing a firearm.

The suspect pointed the gun at the person and demanded that he give him the vehicle, police said. The owner stepped aside and allowed the suspect to take his vehicle and flee the parking lot.

Marion Police Department officers, along with several other law enforcement agencies, arrived on the scene within minutes and began searching for the stolen vehicle.

Approximately an hour later, the vehicle was located and stopped by Morganton Public Safety officers on Carbon City Road in Morganton.

The suspect was identified as Jon Carlo Lamore, of Boone, North Carolina. Lamore was arrested and charged with one count of armed robbery, two counts of theft, and one count of criminal trespassing.

He was not given bail.
