AUBURN – The search for a seismic shakeup in the 2024 Auburn football season begins tonight.

This has already been a season full of disappointment for the Tigers. In Year 2 under Hugh Freeze, they have shown little sign of progress, culminating in an offense that has looked as dismal at times as it did last fall.

But with two games to go, Auburn is still somehow fighting for its postseason hopes. The Tigers need two more wins to clinch a bowl berth and will have to beat No. 15 Texas A&M and No. 7 Alabama to make up ground in the postseason, starting with a game against the Aggies on Saturday under the lights of Jordan-Hare. Stadium.

As Auburn prepares for an upset bid, here’s everything you need to know about the Tigers and the Aggies.

(This story will be updated throughout the game.)

4:13, question 2: Texas A&M receiver Terry Bussey made an extra effort to get the Aggies’ first points, but fumbled when he broke the plane.

The on-field ruling is that the fumble occurred after Bussey broke the plane. There was no rating.

It’s 21-7, Auburn.

13:09, Q2: Payton Thorne finds Cam Coleman for another touchdown, this time from 15 yards out, and the Tigers are suddenly up by three possessions.

Coleman set a career high with 100 receiving yards against Louisiana-Monroe last week. He’s already got 112 yards on just four catches.

It’s 21-0, Auburn.

Similar to last week’s win against Louisiana-Monroe, the Tigers throw another shutout for 15 minutes – only this time against a top-15 team with playoff aspirations.

Auburn is averaging 9.4 yards per play through a quarter, outscoring the Aggies through the air 103-48.

1:08, Q1: Just when it looked like the Aggies were driving, Thompson called it quits.

Thompson picked off Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed for his second interception of the season. It put the Tigers on their own 12-yard line.

Still 14-0, Auburn.

6:05, Q1: The Tigers barely needed any time to find their second touchdown of the day, as Thorne hit Coleman for a 63-yard score on what was a two-play, 64-yard drive.

After putting in a generational performance against Louisiana-Monroe, Coleman picks up right where he left off, with three catches for 97 yards and a touchdown against the Aggies so far.

It’s 14-0, Auburn.

6:43, Q1: Auburn defensive end Keyron Crawford came up with one of his biggest plays of the season on the Aggies’ opening drive, beating quarterback Marcel Reed for a one-yard gain on third-and-8.

Mike Elko trotted out kicker Randy Bond for a 53-yard attempt, which was no good.

It’s 7-0, Auburn.

11:22, Q1: The Tigers wasted no time finding the end zone on their opening drive, going 65 yards on 10 plays in 3:33 of playing time to score the game’s first touchdown.

Hunter hit it in from two yards out. He had five carries for 20 yards on the opening drive.

It’s 7-0, Auburn.

Fairweather, listed as a game-time decision in Saturday’s pregame SEC availability report, got the start against the Aggies.

He was an active participant in the pre-match warm-ups and was also announced in the starting lineup before the match.

Our prediction for Auburn football vs. Texas A&M

No. 15 Texas A&M 24, Auburn 20: There’s plenty of reason for Auburn fans to hope for a sensational upset of the Aggies. It’s a night game at Jordan-Hare. Texas A&M’s biggest problems always seem to coincide with talented rushing attacks, giving Jarquez Hunter a legitimate opportunity to be a game-changer. But the Tigers are 0-3 in one-possession games this season. If they can break that trend against the Aggies, it will be a welcome sign for late-season momentum, but they haven’t shown any reason to believe they can yet.

Auburn football vs. Texas A&M spread

This will be the first time this season that Auburn is not the betting favorite in a home game. The Tigers have been favored in all six of their previous home games, including losses to Arkansas, Oklahoma and Vanderbilt.
