Barcelona vs Celta Player Ratings: A Phenomenal Collapse! Hansi Flick’s side throw away their two-goal lead late on after Marc Casado was sent off to cancel out the great work of the red-hot Raphinha

Late departure sees La Liga leaders surrender to draw despite excellent performance from captain Raphinha

Barcelona suffered a bitter blow in La Liga on Saturday evening due to Celta Vigo’s spirited fightback. The League leaders were 2-0 up and appeared to be offside, but Marc Casado’s signal for two yellow cards stunned the Catalans and they conceded twice in four minutes, throwing away three points.

Celta opened Barcelona in the first four minutes, but Iago Aspas was unable to convert from seven meters out after an excellent throw.

They were made to pay shortly afterwards, when Raphinha sprinted onto Jules Kounde’s speculative long ball and finished brilliantly.

Just before the half-hour, Aspas burst through on goal but went down under Gerard Martin’s challenge, but no penalty was awarded; Celta had a degree of success when they were direct and just aimed long balls over Barcelona’s defense, with Inaki Pena having to be at his best in goal.

On the stroke of half-time, Gerard Martin should have been sent off; Already on yellow, the fullback fouled Iago Aspas with a bad slide tackle, but the referee chose not to show a second card. It will come as no surprise that he was substituted during the break.

In the second half the match degenerated into a chaotic midfield battle until Robert Lewandowski doubled the visitors’ lead with a smart finish after being sent through by a lovely Raphinha ball.

Raphinha could have grabbed his second in the 77th minute when he once again galloped away from Celta’s defense, but his shot hit the post.

Shortly afterwards, Marc Casado received a second yellow card and Celta scored a goal back through Alfonso Gonzalez. He robbed Kounde near Barca and finished coolly.

And as the Balaidos rocked, Celta equalized with a brilliant finish from Hugo Alvarez to earn a well-deserved point and embarrass the visitors.
